Two weeks ago I started something huge I’m talking huge. I believe God Is moving through this too. I got to thinking my school has announcements every 3rd period and every 3rd period we start with the pledge of allegiance then followed by a moment of silence. It dawned on me the night before I did this I thought about the pledge and its literal wording. I came to realize that I don’t agree with any of it and here is why: the “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America” part I have no Issue with. “To the Republic for which it stands…” that is where I stopped and actually thought our Republic stands for abortion, homosexuality, war, etc– I don’t. I could talk forever on that line, but I have more to say that is even more Important. “One nation under God…” We are not a nation under God. We have come so far away from that actuality and I don’t agree with that. I stand for a nation under God, and only ever will. I’m contending for a nation that claims to be under God to return to that and doing it through fasting and prayer. “Indivisible…” we are already divided independently we stand for many Issues, religions with our own country that divides us and the bible Is very clear about a kingdom being divided. And I love the scripture it comes from. Matthew 12:25-26 (ESV) “knowing their thoughts, he [Jesus] said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is laid waste, and no city or house divided against itself will stand. And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?” Pretty much that is not good. Therefore, the next line “With liberty and justice for all” is my BIGGEST Issue. There is not liberty and justice for all in America when we promote abortion, same sex marriage, war, death penalty, etc. There just is not. And for a country whose constitution claims and gives glory to our Creator and our unalienable rights how then do we defy the 10 commandments delivered by Moses and ignore what God has to offer in this age and in the age to come?
Oh beloved, I sense a weakness within America. I say this with all loving-kindness but we need revival! We need a revival in our own hearts. This western church is sleeping! We have got to arise and leave the comforts of the bed, and run with God in the mountains. We have got to consecrate ourselves to God. “Yet even now” declares the Lord, return to me will all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments (Joel 2:12-13, ESV). We need to be yoked to our creator and not worship the created things. This is not some nazi, communist, totalitarian anarchical plea to spread anti-governmental talk because that is NOT the point of this post by any stretch of the measure. In fact it is in precedence of the scriptures Titus 3:1-3, 1Peter 2:13-15, and 1Timothy 2:1-6 that I invite you to join with me in a silent siege and reclaiming a nation after God. Again realizing this is not in protest of government or it’s leaders (consult the aforementioned scriptures) it is to fast and pray for them to make the godly decisions necessary to bring a nation back under God. It is by sitting and praying not only during the pledge of allegiance but spending time outside of that obeying the scriptures in prayer for the government, any leader in power, the president, and even pastoral church and staff. It is through that that God will honor your heart and desire to be yoked with what is on his heart then you will begin to see America united under God!
I love you all! The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all!
